Mitch Pledger Youth Development Movement is a 501(c) nonprofit organization that focuses on making an impact that helps improve the lives of youth through physical, emotional, mental and spiritual programs that prepares them to contribute meaningfully back to society around them and find success in life. Our nonprofit recognizes youth as an individual under the age of 28.
We specifically help at-risk youth that have experienced trauma as a result of human trafficking. Our anti-human trafficking program uses resources to aid in the education of our communities and students on how to recognize the red flags of trafficking and how to deal with them. We also focus on the recovery and healing process of youth that have been trafficked or abused through our mentorship and healing programs. We are tireless advocates for each individual we work with, and aid them in their transition from victim to victor.
Founded in 1995, Mitch Pledger Youth Development Movement has been serving our communities for over 25 years. Our organization was established to address the growing need for assistance for those facing financial, medical, or social challenges.

The City of Irondale is hosting more than 125 first responders from across the State of Alabama for a training designed to help police, fire, and EMS personnel recognize, rethink, and respond to human trafficking situations, particularly with child victims.
The training is hosted by the Irondale Police Department and the Irondale Fire Department in partnership with Irondale’s own Mitch Pledger Youth Development Organization, the Child Trafficking Solutions Project, Children’s Aid Society, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Homeland Security, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Information about working with victims is being provided by UAB, Children’s Hospital, and local victim advocacy groups.
Attendees had the option of attending the 8-hour training course at the Irondale Civic Center on one of three days this week, August 27-29, 2024. Course topics include human trafficking federal and state laws, case studies, response protocols, evidence collection, victim advocacy, and more.
“With major interstate highways running through our City, we have made it a priority to ensure our Irondale first responders are equipped with the skills and insight to effectively recognize and respond to human trafficking situations,” stated Mayor of Irondale James D. Stewart, Jr. “Our goal is to be leaders in tackling this issue, so we’re proud that we were able to come together with other partners and experts to host a training that is open to first responders from across the state.”
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
